Beginning March 2, the M.B.A. program of Maharishi University of Management will be offered via satellite. Moreover, the Satellite M.B.A. is being offered at a very low cost: $6,000 per year, or $12,000 for the complete two-year program. Most inquiries for these satellite programs come from other countries, where the low price and convenience of learning in their home country makes the program particularly appealing.
Videotapes are broadcast over the satellite network of Maharishi Open University each Friday night, Saturday morning, and Sunday morning throughout the school year.
The Distance M.B.A. courses at Maharishi University of Management are supported by an academic intranet. Students are able to use the World Wide Web to view the course syllabus, complete assignments, participate in bulletin board, chatroom, and group discussions, complete quizzes and examinations, and check grades relative to the rest of their class. Benefits to students include 24-hour access to course materials, immediate grading of quizzes and examinations, and better communication with instructors and fellow students. Internet access is required, as is Microsoft Office software (Microsoft Word, Access, Excel, and PowerPoint).
The same faculty that teach the M.B.A. courses at the Fairfield campus will be teaching the Distance M.B.A. courses. To apply for classes beginning March 2, contact Ellen Smith at <mba@mum.edu> or (515) 472-1216. Details are also available at <http://mum.edu/SBPA/distance>.
